THEY MUST KNOW LOVE
Hey! For those of you who may not know me, my name is Elise, and I am currently serving in Saltillo, Mexico on mission! My start date was August 26th, and I will be here until December 26th. Honestly, my initial reason for going on mission was quite shallow…I saw this as an opportunity to practice my Spanish as no one on my mission speaks any English. Yes I know. However, after going on a retreat with the Salesian Sisters in preparation for this mission back in June, I realized this opportunity and experience would be so much more than just improving my language skills.
If I have learned anything during my time here, it is the meaning of sacrificial, unconditional, and unceasing love. A love that continues even through rejection, betrayal and hurt. A love that persists through tears, pain, and heartache.

¡Hola! Para quienes no me conocen, mi nombre es Elise y he estado sirviendo en misiones en Saltillo, México, durante los últimos tres meses. Mi fecha de inicio fue el 26 de agosto y estaré aquí hasta el 26 de diciembre. Mi razón inicial para venir de misión era, de hecho, bastante superficial…lo veía solo como una oportunidad para practicar mi español...ya que nadie en mi misión habla inglés. Sí, lo sé. Sin embargo, después de hacer un retiro de preparación para esta misión en junio, me di cuenta de que esta experiencia sería mucho más que simplemente mejorar mi español.

Me he dado cuenta de que sí he aprendido algo durante el tiempo que llevo aquí, es el significado de un amor de sacrificio, un amor incondicional y constante. Un amor que continúa incluso frente al rechazo, la traición y el dolor. Un amor que permanece en medio de las lágrimas, el dolor y las heridas del corazón.
